SANDUSKY COUNTY, OHIO — A tragic collision on the Ohio Turnpike has left a father dead and two children hospitalized following a crash involving a Lexus and a semi-truck early Monday morning, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Authorities reported that the crash occurred around 4:40 a.m. along a busy stretch of the turnpike when the Lexus carrying a family was involved in a severe collision with a semi-truck. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene shortly after reports of a serious multi-vehicle impact.

Officials confirmed that the father inside the Lexus was pronounced dead at the scene. Two children who were also in the vehicle suffered critical injuries and were airlifted to nearby hospitals for urgent medical care.

At this time, investigators have not released further details about the children’s current condition, though at least one remains in critical status. The driver of the semi-truck was reportedly not seriously injured.

Preliminary findings indicate that the Lexus collided with the semi under circumstances still under active investigation. Authorities have not determined whether factors such as speed, visibility, or road conditions played a role in the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate and reconstruct the events leading up to the collision. Additional updates are expected once more information becomes available and family notifications are complete.
